Ignite will be having training next week. If you signed up to be an Ignite mentor either at the end of last year or this year, please watch the Cougar Paws for the time and day you will be receiving training.  You MUST go to the training on the day you have been assigned.  The time and day will be posted by Monday, Sept. 8th.

Executive mentors: you will have an executive training BEFORE school Wednesday, Sept. 10th.  The training will take place in the computer lab from 7:30-9:00. If you can not attend the training please notify Mrs. Moore as soon as possible.

We are looking forward to an exciting year mentoring the freshmen! (MM)


Permission slips for the fieldtrip to the National College Fair in Phoenix are due today for the Creative Logic Club members.  You can only attend the field trip if you have a completed field trip permission form.  (RN)

There will be an informational meeting for the CG Ambassadors today at 3:00 PM in room E100.  Even if you didn’t sign up during Rush Week, come to the meeting and see what we’re about!  (SM)

SADD Fundraising Committee will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 9th at 3:00 PM in Room J207.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  (SS)

Guidance
The September scholarship list is available from your Senior English teachers, Mrs. Speers in the Guidance Office and your counselors.  (MS)

Attention Juniors:  College Reading Assessment Day will be held at Central Arizona College on Friday, September 12, 2008.
If you are currently a Junior and are planning to take, or thinking of taking any CAC English, Math or other class then plan on taking advantage of this opportunity.  All CAC English classes require that you take the READING and WRITING Compass tests, and all CAC math classes require you to take the READING and MATHEMATICS Compass tests.
The College Reading Assessment Day will provide you with the opportunity to take the COMPASS Reading Assessment at CAC.  The test is free of charge and the college provides snacks and beverages for the participants.
Please sign up at the Guidance Office today and Friday.  See Mrs. Speers.  (RC)

11th graders only – If you will be taking the AIMS Reading Test on October 29, 2008, to either meet or exceed and you want to take the PSAT Test also, see Mr. MacKenzie as soon as possible.  (JM)

Sports

Varsity Football @ Westwood, 7:00 PM, leaving @ 3:30 PM
Location:  945 W. 8th Street, Mesa

Want to show your tennis skills and earn a gold or silver medal and get your picture in the paper?  Casa Grande High School will be hosting the first Pinal County tennis tournament on Saturday, September 6th.  Please pick up a registration form at the athletic office.  (KM)

Workouts and conditioning for boys basketball will be held on the following days:

Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:30 – 7:15 PM start in the weight room & finish in the gym
Saturdays 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the gym.  (RB)


Soccer open field practices for girls and boys will be held every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on the baseball field.  (KM)
